RESONANT ACTIVISM BAND @ Turner Sims

  • Turner Sims Building 52 Salisbury Rd Southampton, SO17 1BJ England (map)

The newly formed RESONANT ACTIVISM BAND, directed by Yshani Perinpanayagam, work together in solidarity to present activist pieces.

Uri Agnon’s MARCH is a powerful and joyful exploration of the rhythms, dynamics, and emotions of political marching, blending monologue, mass protest and an absurdist game show. The piece was featured as part of the NEW MUSIC BIENNIAL 2025 and will feature Elizabeth Gunawan as narrator.

Released by Kate Nash in 2025, GERM serves as a message of allyship to the trans community following the UK Supreme Court ruling definition of a ‘woman’ earlier this year. This project will feature a new arrangement of the piece, conceived by Yshani Perinpanayagam, who recently conducted the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra with Kate Nash at Mighty Hoopla. Natasha Burns will be lead vocalist.

The performances will be interjected with a short panel discussion, chaired by Dr Erin Johnson-Williams, focused on music and activism.
